Episode 20: Lasagna Fritta with Special Guest Nick Vangeli!
The guys are back for their 20TH EPISODE and it’s a big one gang. They welcome longtime friend, father of Lola, da finance gawd, and Sam Lang impersonator, Nick Vangeli!
They discuss their weekends, including losing money gambling on horses (typical), Max discusses a planned dumpling tour of Queens, Nick had a lovely multi-Mother’s Day in Queens and talks brass tacks and vet bills, and Maks has some notes for graduation speakers about the dangers of AI.
Later, the gang has a rousing couple rounds of Anti-Mount Rushmore where they pick their least favorite appetizers and worst excuses.
This week, check out a first time for the pod, it’s Kitty Korner with all your Lola Loaf pics!
There’s our #1 gal. Also, low-key just gonna say it…Nick looks HUGE here. Our guy works out listeners. Photo courtesy of Nick Vangeli.

Next we’ve got photos of appetizers discussed on the pod, because when you’re here, you’re family and that’s eatin’ good in the neighborhood!
First up, Maks selects the Tasmanian Chili from Outback. Photo courtesy of outback.com.
Next, Max picks tuna tartare…gross. Photo courtesy of seriouseats.com.
In an absolutely wildly flaming hot take, Nick picked Olive Garden’s breadsticks. Photo courtesy of olivegarden.com.
Nick also selected shrimp cocktail. Photo courtesy of foodnetwork.com.
Max picked crudité. I mean come on it’s just vegetables on a plate. Photo courtesy of taketwotapas.com.
In a cunning move to not fill up before the entrees arrive, Maks took Olive Garden’s lasagna fritta off the board. Photo courtesy of olivegarden.com.
Next, Maks picked Red Lobster’s seafood stuffed mushrooms. Yes, that’s the official photo from the official website. Photo courtesy of redlobster.com.
Nick picked queso for his next bad app, and Max submits this photo of the bomb queso from Uncle Julio’s and a quick correction that Max called the restaurant Rio Grande on the pod, the full name of the restaurant used to be Uncle Julio’s Rio Grande Café before they rebranded to just Uncle Julio’s. Nevertheless the queso is absolute fire flames. Photo courtesy of Max Siskind circa 2013.
Nick next decided to take down the entire Lang family by criticizing their love of scallion pancakes. Photo courtesy of delish.com.
Max picked coconut shrimp, these are the gold coast ones from Outback. Just give me regular fried shrimp, coconut shouldn’t be invited out of the house. Photo courtesy of outback.com.
Maks took TGI Friday’s green bean fries next, for you know…health. Photo courtesy of tgifridays.com.
Max wrapped up the draft with the classically lame salsa trio app. Photo courtesy of foodnetwork.com.
